![]() Looking forward to completing this one! I remember dropping The Second Encounter due to some situations that felt like total bullshit, hope that doesn't repeat here. The silly art style is almost decieving in how challenging and intense the game can get. It's fun, balls to the wall, shoot everything that moves, and a lot of things are gonna move. You can tell the game is almost fifteen years old but a whole lotta love was put in making it and it shows. Texture work still holds up great and the maps look fantastic. All the sillines that doesn't work in the dialogue and quips works with the ridiculous looking monsters and weapons. I actually like the art direction, this deranged, R rated saturday morning cartoon on hallucinogens. In game comments from Sam and Netrisca are mostly Miss, with a very occasional, almost ironic hit. I came here to shoot things and this is getting in the way at best and making me cringe at worst. Awful resolution, extemely childish humor, and totally unnecesary for gameplay. These games primarily consist of fighting hundreds of enemies in arenas, and Id be surprised if the Switch can hit 60fps. They are more common in Serious Sam 1 than in Serious Sam 3: BFE and Serious Sam's Bogus Detour, but they are encountered more often in Serious Sam 4. Still, I wonder how the framerate will be on this port. In all their appearances, Werebulls are fairly common enemies and first appear sparingly, and then in large groups in the later levels to make gameplay more challenging. Even then, I found the characters and writing grating, like the rest of the series. I'd expect this from a mod but not an official release. Serious Sam 2 was the only one of these Ive enjoyed, from a gameplay standpoint. Oh boy, the difficulty selection is actually drawn on what looks like Ms Paint. Completely unlike the elegance of the menus in the First and Second encounter. ![]() Oh boy the interface just reeks early 00's jank. Seeing as I am reviewing most games I finish from my backlog here, I decided to also speak about what I'm starting to play and how it feels.
